Terms of use
Last updated 16 October 2026
First Place Finder (firstplace.dev) is run by NCH Consultancy, Adelaide, South Australia ("we", "us"). By using it you agree to these terms. If you buy a plan, they are the agreement for that purchase. Contact: [email protected].
1. What the service is
First Place Finder estimates where to live so that the time you spend travelling in a week is low, from the places you go, how often you go and how you travel. It can also show homes for sale or rent in that area.
- Travel times are estimates. They come from open map data and public routing services, and they include a model of traffic that is not live. Real trips can take longer or shorter.
- Listings come from third-party property marketplaces through a data provider. They can be out of date, incomplete or wrong. Check every listing with the agent or marketplace before you rely on it.
- The service is general information. It is not financial, property or legal advice. Make your own enquiries before you rent or buy a home.
2. Using it for free
You can use the map without an account or a plan. Finding a zone, and the demonstration, never wait. Without a plan, each new home search starts with a 60-second wait, and you can make 2 new home searches a day from one internet connection. We may change the free limits, and the page shows the limits that apply.
3. Accounts
- You can sign in with Google, or with an email address and a password.
- Give an email address you control, and keep your password to yourself.
- One account is for one person. Do not share it or sell access to it.
- You must be 16 or older to make an account.
- You can delete your account at any time from the account panel.
4. Plans and payment
- Basic, A$1.50: 10 new home searches each calendar month with no wait, for 6 months.
- Plus, A$6: up to 100 new home searches each calendar month with no wait, for 6 months.
- When a month’s plan searches are used, home searches carry on as they do for free: each new one waits 60 seconds, 2 a day, until the plan’s searches reset at the start of the next month.
- Prices are in Australian dollars and are the total you pay. Stripe processes the payment.
- Prices may change. A new price applies only to purchases made after the change. A plan you have already bought keeps everything you paid for, at the price you paid, for the whole of its 183 days, even if the price or the plans change later.
- A plan is a single payment. It lasts 183 days from the time of payment, and it does not renew. Nothing is charged again unless you buy again.
- More time, upgrades and downgrades. Buying the plan you already have adds 183 days to the end of it. Buying Plus while Basic runs is an upgrade: Plus starts at once, and the Basic days you had left are paused and carry on when Plus ends. Buying Basic while Plus runs is a downgrade: Basic starts when Plus ends. No paid day is lost, and two plans never run at the same time.
- A home search counts once for each area and type (buy or rent) in a month. Looking at the same area again, or changing the price range, does not count again and does not wait. Unused searches do not carry over to the next month. Months follow Coordinated Universal Time.
- The home listings come from a provider that limits how many searches the whole site can make. If that limit is reached, home search may pause for everyone until it resets. The rest of the service keeps working. "Up to 100" on Plus means that this pause can apply.
5. Refunds and your consumer rights
A plan is a single payment for a fixed term. There is no subscription, so there is nothing to cancel. We do not give refunds if you change your mind, if you stop using the service, or if you delete your account while a plan is running.
Our services come with guarantees that cannot be excluded under the Australian Consumer Law. If the service has a major failure, you are entitled to a refund of the unused part of your plan. If a failure is not major, we will fix it within a reasonable time, and if we cannot, you can ask for a refund. Write to [email protected] with the email on your account. Nothing in these terms limits those rights.
6. Fair use
Do not:
- access the service with scripts, bots or scrapers, or call its API outside the page;
- try to get around the wait, the limits or the payment;
- copy, resell or republish the listings or the travel times in bulk;
- try to break, overload or get unauthorised access to the service or to other people's accounts.
The routing and map services behind the site are shared community services, and their policies ask for light use. We may suspend an account or block access that breaks these rules. If we close a paid account for a breach, no refund is due for the unused time, except where the law says otherwise.
7. Availability
We work to keep the service running, but we do not promise it will always be available or free of errors. It depends on public services that we do not control. We may change or stop parts of it. If we close the service for good while your plan is running, we will refund the unused part of the plan.
8. Other people's data
Map data is © OpenStreetMap contributors. Public transport data comes through Transitous from the operators listed at transitous.org/sources. Listings, photos and descriptions belong to the marketplaces and agents that publish them.
9. Liability
To the extent the law allows, and subject to your rights under the Australian Consumer Law, we are not liable for any indirect or consequential loss, or for decisions you make from the estimates or listings. Where our liability can be limited, it is limited to supplying the service again or refunding what you paid for it.
10. Privacy
The privacy policy explains what we collect and how we handle it.
11. Changes to these terms
We may update these terms. The date at the top shows the latest version. A change does not reduce what you get from a plan you have already paid for.
12. Law
These terms are governed by the law of South Australia, and the courts of South Australia have jurisdiction.
